So Oracle sucks on the Mac. I did manage last year to get Oracle running on my G5 and old PowerPC.
I wish to upgrade my G5 to Leopard and any attempt to do so will stop Oracle working which I need to work. I do have a Windows PC which I never have on so I did not really want to start turning it on all the time.
So one solution I wanted to try is to use my Mac Mini. I did try and install Oracle on it with no luck so another option came to mind. VMWare.
A lot has changed in VMWare in the last few years and I have heard people say Parallels for Mac rocks. So I thought I would give it a go. I download it from their website and installed it. I then download Fedora 8 and set about installing it. I did consider CentOs but I have mire experience with Fedora. I haven't use Fedora since I became a Mac user so it felt good to have Linux running again.
So off I went and as of last night I have completed milestone 1. Linux is running on my Mac Mini. No issues at all. I choose the instruction to give the VM its own IP adress and it works perfectly. I am currently ssh onto it from the office. Amazing!.
Now comes the hard part. Oracle install. Wish me luck!!!
